Digitizing a Physical Archive

As Research Assistant for Dr. Katherine Zien at the Department of English, McGill University

Task: recreate a digital archive from a folder of several thousand jpegs. There were images of the contents of boxes from several archives for her research on the US Military in Latin America.

It started with thousands upon thousands of jpegs, and I made them into a handful of folders (corresponding to the boxes) that contained several pdfs (corresponding to the folders). This, of course, required going through each image, file, folder to determine what belongs together.

In so doing, I accurately recreated the archives she encoutered in a digital space.
